The Gmail app on Android now finds past performance introduced on the desktop back in February 2020. The feature is called "chips" and is basically a filter that helps you narrow down your search once you've added something to the search box.
Filters help you get an email from someone, at a specific time, with attachments or not and if unread or not. Chips, however, appear to be from some users only so they are updated on the server side for now.
